Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
ANIMALS
Reviewed by jareprime

A group of scientists who think that they may have discovered a way to prolong life through the use of a rare flower, known as the blood orchid, head deep into the rain forest of Borneo to look for the flower. Charting a floating junk heap called the Bloody Mary, the group and the two shipmates head up river in search of the flower, however they run into a world of terror as they stumble into a nest of anacondas who are in the throws of mating season. Hold your breath and squeeze the one your near because the hunt is on.

This sequel to Anaconda starts off on a great pace, but can't seem to catch it's breath after the initial burst. The film is your basic group of people head into the woods and big hungry critter starts to chow down story line. There is a little human backstabbing that goes on as well. The cast is made up of people I have never seen before, but they all do a good job.

The best is the chiseled captain Johnny Messner, this guy could be the next big action star, the rest of the cast is your standard group of tag alongs who are all gonna end up snake chow at one time or another.

The story is pretty decent but it takes awhile to get going and we don't get a real good snake attack until about 35 minutes into the film. Also the ending is a little over the top and some of the dialog was hokey at best.

My biggest complaint with this film was the snake effects. When the snakes were shown gliding through the water or jungle grounds, they looked good. However any up close or attack shot and they looked faker than that penis in my HW Gallery photo, not that that was fake or anything. The CGI used on the snakes in the attack scenes are almost as bad as the ones in Boa and Python, they are just a wee bit better. Also all the snakes seemed to have massive fangs. Why? I don't know.

If I had my choice to see this one again or watch the original, I'd go with the original, but this one is ok to chug a gallon of soda to and munch on some popcorn.

4/10

I was a big fan of the original Anaconda, that's not to say I thought it was a good movie, I didn't. I just really enjoyed watching it for some reason.

I enjoyed this one as well. I expected it to be far worse and it really wasn't. I expected it to be a complete, inferior retelling of the original, and it wasn't. Again, it wasn't very good, but it was entertaining and I will watch it again.

There were several points that really annoyed the hell out of me. This flower only blooms once every seven years. It's doing so right now, but only for two more weeks. We had an entire season to go, but we like waiting until the last minute. What the hell?

But as Prime said, it's entertaining. I always enjoy a movie where a group of people go into the jungle, even moreso if they're on a boat. I love boats and jungles. I loved Congo for that reason, and this movie is better than Congo, and this snake looks way more real than the gorilla in Congo.

6 out of 10 really quick snake attacks
