It's that time once again, horror friends.  Any plans for the evening?  Lord J is having a horror party, hopefully we'll be watching [rec] and [rec]2.  If anyone's thirsty for something new, I watched a pretty decent indie effort last night called Absentia that's available on Netflix Instant.  An estranged woman comes to help her sister when it's finally time to petition for a death certificate for her husband who's been missing 7 years.  After she's finally given up hope and filed her husband shows up, still wearing the clothes he had on the day he disappeared.  For a movie shot on a budget of under $100,000 this one is a slow burn that packs a punch.  The only "known" actor is Doug Jones, famous for his character work in Del Toro movies, who has a small but important role.

A few nights I watched the remake of Friday the 13th, which I bought last year on BluRay for next to nothing at a Borders that was closing.  I really think I like this movie more and more each time I see it.  It's no masterpiece, but it surprises me that it didn't kick-start the series up again, and I'd say it easily falls in the top half of all the F13 movies.

Nice.......  no real plans other than the usual......golf, poker with the buddies and 15 or so beers. Give or take. I will be throwing on a F13 feature at some point before the night is over. I checked the TV listings and I don't think ANY channel is playing anything Jason related. Wack. It'll most likely be part 6 or 7.

The remake is ALRIGHT. I'd say right in the middle of the entire franchise sounds about right. I think there are alot of cool things going on there, but something about Jason being a master electrician just rubs me the wrong way.

Enjoy the evening!

Religion is like crack. Give it to the kids early enough and they're hooked. And that shit will fuck you up for life.
