This is a link to an excellent article where a computer programmer breaks down in laymans terms exactly why SOPA is such a threat to the freedom we enjoy on the internet. http://news.yahoo.com/why-sopa-dangerous-170607899.htmlThere are a number of online petitions you can sign..you can also look up the contact information for your congressman and write them an email demanding that they stop SOPA. This bill has to die, folks. If it passes., you can be charged with a felony for doing so much as posting a video on Facebook. No shit. That's not an exaggeration..and ,under the provisions of SOPA, when sued you'd have to pay the attorney's fees for your accusers. Let's kill this thing before it breeds and gives Big Money the power to censor our freedom of expression. |

I've been posting this left and right on facebook and also on Google+ (though not as frequently). It will essentially turn ANYONE who uses the Internet into a potential felon. SOPA has been pushed back until February, but PIPA (the companion bil in the Senate) will be up for vote again on 01/24/12. SOPA/PIPA is Draconian at best and will completely cripple the internet as we know it. I have a list of IP Addresses for the sites that I visit (which only needs to get longer) since SOPA/PIPA can only block a url, not an IP Address. http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/ will tell you where your senator/representative stands. The White House has publicly declared that it will NOT support the bill in its current state. I can only recommend to everyone to see where your representative/senator stands. If he/she is for it, vote them out on the next election. |

Just had an awesome mental pic of the FBI storming GC house as he's watching a pirated version of the new Sherlock Holmes flick, in his dirty whitey-tighties, mad cheerioes stuck in his grimy beard, shirtless, sweating like a slave, as AK47s are shoved in his face....... one agent grabs his laptop, smashes the shit out of it up against the wall and then just stares are you for 10 seconds, whispers softly "SOPA" in your ear and leaves. LOL

Because it was obvious I was going for an acurate, realistic jab at you. Here goes: FBI comes storming into GCs house. GC is scared shitless because he's got kiddy porn and animal fetish on his PC. BUT to his relief, they're only interesting in bringing his wife into custody to test her DNA and perform other tests, after countless reports of Sasquash sightings in the neighborhood. Can't argue with the straightness of that, Jiggaboo! |
