I revisted both he orignal Airplane ! and the entire Naked Gun trilogy over the past few days.
While watching The Naked Gun 33 1/3 The Final Insult (which I had not seen for quite some time) , I came across a number of moments that I somehow had forgotten about which had me laughing out loud. Many of them happen in the last third of the film, which unfolds as a dead- on parody of the overblown Academy Awards ceremony. One was this line, spoken by Lt.Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) in deference to the villain's plot to disrupt the awards with a terrorist act:
"They're going to blow the place sky high. It'll be a tragedy.... unless it happens during a musical number."
The other one that stood out was this exchange with Raquel Welch (who gamely portrayed herself), which occurs while Drebin is onstage posing as Phil Donahue. In this scene he's trying to stall for time while Jane looks for the bomb backstage. Try to imagine Leslie Nielsen delivering that monolouge about the cats in his deadpan tone and you can understand why I was laughing my ass off .
Frank Drebin: Uh, Raquel, just a second, I just had a thought. This show is being seen all over the world. I was thinking, if we could all just send good thoughts, transmit them through these cameras here, to the elected leader of China, Wing Wa Woo Tong, so that they might finally be nice. Thank you.
[applause]
Raquel Welch: And the winner is...
Frank Drebin: Uh Raquel, so many go to bed hungry in this nation, yet cat food is full of tuna! I can't help but think each time I go to the zoo and see those porpoises, crammed into those tiny tanks, what a waste that is. Butcher half of them now! That's hundreds of pounds of dolphin meat that can be fed to our cats, freeing up that tuna for our nation's hungry.
[one guy in the audience actually claps]
Raquel Welch: And the winner is...
Frank Drebin: Uh, so many are cold, shivering in the night, so I say, butcher those cats, skin them! Use their fur to keep hundreds warm!
Raquel Welch: [shocked] Jesus, Phil!
I miss Leslie Nielsen.

I've been watching a bunch of Chappelle Show lately. Some of the best sketch work in the history of comedy is you ask me..... Almost every episode has a classic bit, but I forget a ton of the smaller little skits that have priceless moments.
"Front Line" episode on the subject of racist animals in hollywood like Mr. Ed and Flipper. They're interviewing a gay black guy "Flipper.....or as I know him as JAMES.... That little nigger hating dolphin"
Mr Ed with a clan member riding him..... "Next week on Front Line we'll discuss other racist aspects of Hollywood" they show the car from Night Rider "Mexicans are lazy, Michael" hahahaha awesome.

caught "The Change Up" over the weekend with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.
Story itself has been done to death. People switch bodies and hilarity ensues based on obvious situations. I knew I wasn't going to see anything groundbreaking but I heard it was raunchy so I figured I got nothing to lose because a higher Comcast bill of 5 bucks. Fuck it.
There is some comedic gold here. There are a few sequences (especially involving the two little babies) that are classic. And the wife is brilliant too (her name escapes me at the moment, real life wife of Judd Apatow, from Knocked Up, 40 Yr old Virgin, etc etc...) anyways, this is definitely worth a watch. Language, grossout moments, tits, tits, pregnant tits, weed, just good stuff overall. It's a little long, a little more story driven then I like, but I was pleased overall.

Saw a midnight showing of "A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas" Friday night. Good times had by all. Simple stoner holiday fare. I didnt see it in 3D but it was still enjoyable. Had a nice buzz on....snuck a beer in there. Wasnt too crowded..... and how can you go wrong with Danny Treo? It was a nice jumping off point to the Holiday film season.

Saw the Sitter with Jonah Hill. Good times. He's usually worth the price of admission alone. Didnt disappoint. Couple of borderline sappy parts in the 3rd act but they never lasted long. Cool soundtrack. If you liked Superbad then I recommend it fo sho.

Watched Blubberella tonight. It's a scene-for-scene spoof of Bloodrayne 3, also directed by Uwe Boll. It was amusing. Terrible but amusing.

I just don't know about this one. There are a few clips (like when Wahlberg is trying to guess the name of the bear's girlfriend) that are really funny, but by and large McFarlane seems to be falling back on the Peter Griffin shtick here and, honestly, I'm hesitant to pay to see a level of humor I can get for free once a week on a show that is already showing serious signs of being past it's expiration date . Once the novelty of seeing the crude bear interacting with people wears off ,this had better be really sharp and fresh or I can see it getting old fast. |

Anyone going to see the new American Pie flick? The entire cast is returning here. I'm a huge fan of the first two movies. I don't remember much from American Wedding but Stifler and company......sign me up. I'll definitely be catching this..... the original American Pie is one of my all time favorites....
