Sadly,I lost my ability to be at all surpised by the violence human beings are capable of inflicting upon one another on September 11th, 2001 when terrorists killed some 3000 Americans in one fell swoop by flying airliners into buildings. Once you've seen footage of human beings holding hands as they plummet to their deaths after jumping off of a collapsing World Trade Center Tower to avoid burning to death on the upper floors, nothing seems outside the realm of possibility.
My heart
does goes out to the Norwegians,though. Not only is this a tragedy in the cruelest sense of the word, but they are not at all conditioned for this sort of thing. Some analyst came on the news last night discussing this attack and pointed out that- in the past,what, forty years?- Norway has only had about fifteen terrorist related events occur in their country, as opposed to the hundreds which have occured here in the same time frame. Even worse, according to this same guy, Norwegian laws mandate that the maximum this guy can get is 22 years.
I'll say this about our country..as fucked up as we may be at times, if he pulled that crap here, this shitheel would be cooling his jets in a state sponsored cage ,waiting to ride the hypodermic to that special bye bye injection by the end of the year.
