Once again, I find myself commenting in the sports thread to acknowledge whatever the hell they put in the drinking water over in Detroit. The Lions are 3-0 for the first time since 1980...not a bad start for a team which- for the past few seasons in particular - has been the worst in the entire NFL. I love real life underdog stories, so I'll be watching these guys closely. I won't be at all surprised if they end up in the playoffs.

The Detroit Lions were picked by most experts to make the playoffs this year. Their D is pretty filthy, they have arguably the best WR in football, and an unbelievably talented QB that's just now learning how to play in the NFL. The past is irrelevant in football. Especially this year with all the offseason bull-ish that went down. It's anybodies ball game this year. Except MIA

So I'm in a weird place. On the one hand, you were wrong on this one and we dominated you guys for the first half.  But then.... we blew it (as always) coming into the third quarter. So I can't feel bad that you routed us because, well, with a final score of 27-24 you didn't .  But at the same time, I feel no sense of satisfaction because -as I am tired of having to point out -  the talent is there but Miami still didn't win the damned game.
I think I need an aspirin. This team is giving me a headache.

I knew you guys would make it cute for a little while. But Brady had one of the worst halves in his career. And again, I point out the fact the Pats have the best coaching staff in professional sports and make the adjustments at half time, EVERY time. That last touchdown was during garbage time, we put 27 unanswered points on the board while yawning. Next is Buffalo, then the Road the SuperBowl in the AFC travels through Foxboro. Not good for the rest of you.

Meh. The game'll be on in the background while I hang out with my brother and I'll be checking in  to see what commercials show up this year. Beyond that,  I couldn't give a crap less about it. I saw this four years ago and I just can't throw much enthusiasm into a rehash of 2008. I might've been able to muster some investment in a SF /Baltimore  match up-or even better - SF and the Pats ( Brady would own Smith offensively  while that SF defense would give NE some serious hell, making for a tense game) , but  I honestly do not care which of these two teams wins. I'm only marginally rooting for the Giants because I really don't like the Pats.  Not at all excited for the Superbowl this year.

Yeah, I want this one bad though. This puts Brady right at the top of the list of the great QBs. And he's not done yet. It said alot about the Patriots team.....Brady had an awful game and they still found a way to win. That was an awesome Baltimore team.

Couple things. Pats found a way to win cause Cundiff couldn't hit a chip shot to send it into OT. Can't really talk though. The only thing that got the Giants the win was Williams not handling those two punts. Should be a good game though and I look forward to seeing the Giants taking another ring at the hands of the Pats.

Personally, Gisele doesn't do it for me.  Don't get me wrong.  I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers, but I do agree that Tom Brady has been VERY lucky in the pussy department...probably luckier than anyone else.

Here's the deal. I'm no Pats fan but the fact is Tom Brady is not only the best QB in the NFL but he is one of the best QB's of all time. I'm talking top 3-5 at this point.

Brady wins this super bowl and he ties the legendary Joe Montana with 4 SB wins. I never thought anyone in this salary cap era would touch Joe. Well, Brady's right there.

Every year we have to suffer through some flavor of the month QB that people want to call the best in the league. This year it was Rodgers, in past years it was Manning, Brees, Rivers, STOP!!!! Brady is the best, PERIOD. After these stat machines go home year after year like they always do, Brady is usually left standing. Here he is now with 3 gosh dang super bowl wins about to get number 4.

The Giants need to be thankful that the niners had pathetic nervous special teams players to give away that NFC title, because the niners were  the better team:

I wanted to make one more point that I think makes Bradys career that much more impressive. Look at the cast of characters that's been around him for now, his 5th Super Bowl apperance. There are only 5 players on this team left from the 18-1 season a couple of years ago. Go back to the Rams SB in 2001-02 and look at the running backs/WR he had. Then goto the Carolina and Philly bowls. All different. Literally.....  role players come and go and Brady just makes them all look like superstars. Shit, even the defense has changed year in and year out. Brady and Belichick. Best formula for winning the league has ever seen. Montana had Rice. Bradshaw had Swan and others, not to mention the Steel Curtain. Brady has had Deion Branch, David Givins, Welker, fucking Antoine Smith for christ sake.
