All major sporting leagues are full of corrupt assholes. Legally, you're not allowed to even TALK about what happened in a game without EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION from the leagues. Such is the law of the copyright. I'm glad I don't watch sports (you can fill in the blank there, I don't watch ANY of them).

I've gotten into the hockey playoffs this year. Obviously because the Bruins are making a run at the cup. One more win tonight and it's a trip to the Finals. The Bruins are the only team in this town not pulling their weight. IF they take care of business......that'll be at least one championship in all 4 major sports in a 7 year span.
You just can't fuck with that last statement. Go Bs.

What the fuck does that mean? Tonight this town very well might see our 7th major sports championship in a decade, including atleast 1 in all 4 major sports.......and 1 title in all 4 sports in a 7 year span. If that's not something to brag about dude, I don't know what the fuck is..... and on top of those titles, we've had a game 7 loss in the NBA Finals to a hardcore rival (does your team even have a rivalry to WATCH?) a heartbreaking superbowl loss after an UNDEFEATED regular season as well as a game 7 loss to NY in the ALCS. I've had more of a rollercoaster of emotions on both ends of the spectrum than you'll ever dream about, pussy. I've witnessed more parades first hand celebrating world titles than playoff appearances your teams will have in your lifetime, probably..... What? Rebuttal? Go Bs. |

I do want to add something...... IF the Bruins win tonight, I'm going to get my apologetic disclaimer in now regarding what happens in and around Boston this evening. Hockey Fans are fucking twisted individuals. They're downright fucked. This town used to be a hardcore hockey town in the 70s. Since then.....they've reached the bottom of the barrel as far as relavance in this area. So the fanbase that has stayed true almost has a cult following to it. With that being said....there might be some serious shit going down that you'll see on the news. It'll be pandamonium to say the least. I never understood when things like that happen....... I think it's a joke but I'm not going to kid myself and deny the inevitable. The mayor of Boston has already been warning there will be a zero tolerance policy but we'll see...... bottom line. Don't judge us all on what you might see on the news/ESPN tonight and tomorrow. It might get ugly.

From what I saw last night, much of the reason the Bruins won this was the strength of their defense. That's not a knock on the Bruins, mind you,just an observation of what seemed to be their strongest attribute. I watched most of the game, and when it came down to one-on-one brinkmanship , the Canucks actually led in attempted goals by a ratio of 4-0 at one point. However, this was both countered and surpassed by 1) the fact that the Bruins made their shots counts for actual goals, obviously and 2) Tim Thomas,man. That guy is awesome .The Canucks goalie needs to watch footage of Thomas when he prepares for next season. ..that guy is willing to spend half the game with a face full of rink if it means he can block. No shit,man, every time you blinked, Thomas was literally hurling himself down to the ground to stop a goal. Fucking awesome performance. Good for the Bruins. Boston should be proud..congrats.Now go burn some couches.

Timmy Thomas was filthy. You can ride a hot goalie to the promise land.....and they did. Unbelievable series. Down 0-2. Unbelievable playoff run, actually....... 3 game 7s. THREE of them. Very fun indeed. And I guess for the most part everybody behaved themselves in the city of Boston. They had a friggin army of police men and women in full riot gear....their presence I'm sure avoided a bunch of bullshit. That can't be said for those folks in British Columbia. You see that shit? Fucking holligans.

Patriots SuperBowl victory, last second FG. After the snowgame last second FG, mind you.
Patriots SuperBowl victory 2 years later. Great game against Carolina.
Patriots SuperBowl victory the very next year. Dominance.
RedSox World Series victory same year. First time in 86 years. First time anyone has ever been down 0-3 and won 4 straight to win the series (ALCS vs NY) I'll quote a top ESPN personality "This world championship was the most important championship title in the history of organized sports"
RedSox World Series victory a few years later. Wire to wire best team in baseball, culminating in a sweep of the Rockies.
Boston Celtics NBA Championship the next year. Unbelievable run, won it at home versus our biggest rival, one of the best rivalies in sports..... just beautiful.
Boston Bruins Stanley Cup victory a couple of years later. 3 game 7s and only the 2nd time a road team has won a game 7 Finals, in all of major sports in the past 3 decades or so.
....that don't include a perfect regular season, a game 7 loss in the finals and a game 7 loss in the ALCS.
You can go generations, coast to coast and never see the above happen again. Ever. Fact.

You are indeed one lucky bastard! I'll probably never see a run of titles like that for my favorite teams in my lifetime. Not to mention that my faves are spread around and not all from one city (Reds, Panthers, Bobcats, Aston Villa, 'Bama, Duke). Congrats! |

So pre-season NFL is well underway. Rams won, Dolphins lost ,so obviously this week was mixed bag for me. But the real story this week has to be Detroit at New England. I realize this is only pre-season..but the Lions beating the Patriots 34-10? In what alternate universe did they write that outcome? Seriously..what the hell happened there? That's not even a slam against the Pats(who I still can't stand, mind you) but legitimate astonishment. Detroit has literally been the worst team in the NFL for at least the past two seasons. Did not see that one coming. Oh and I still think NFL football owns baseball , GMG. Looks like it's game on after all, oh ye of little faith.  |
