And the worms crawl in, and the worms crawl out

Caught Dead and Buried from 1981 last night.  I don't know why the cover and description sounded a little boring to me, I've had it on my Netflix queue almost as long as I've had Netflix.  I gave it a shot and it was wonderfully ridiculous.  It stars the grandpa from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and some guy from Dallas.  Basically this town kills passers-through and then they somehow turn up again as townspeople.  There's some decent gore, some laughable gore, some laughable acting and a couple moments that actually work and get a little creepy.  It won't make any of my top lists, but it was good enough that I was surprised I'd never even heard of it.

and some guy from Dallas.

Patrick Duffy? I love me some Patrick Duff.

Not horror obviously, but I caught Oliver Stone's new flick Savages. Really disappointed. Great premise but just ultimiately uneventful and there was a serious lack of style that I was banking on. Even a strong buzz couldnt help me enjoy this one more than I did. Few cool scenes I guess. And John Travolta was clownshoes.

Caught Dead and Buried ... some guy from Dallas.

He was on Dynasty for a while (and Police Story), but I don't remember Dallas .... Pretty decent movie, tho.  I was expecting something more along the lines of a made for TV thing, but it was solid.

That was the last movie 'grandpa' made before he died ... I was glad it was a good one!

You're right, I meant Dynasty.  James Farentino, and he seemed like a creep.  He was charged with stalking Nancy Sinatra and arrested for cocaine possession.  Gore, if I meant Patrick Duffy, don't you think I would've thrown out Step by Step?  Also, if you love Patrick Duffy, you'll love TED.

Caught it last night. Pretty funny but I don't think it lived up to the hype. I liked "That's my Boy" a hell of alot more.

Had the pleasure of introducing Jason Voorhees to a friend of mine Friday night who had never seen one Friday the 13th film. I had a pretty tough call as to which one I would throw at her as there are obviously several different routes I could have gone.

I landed on Part 5. Mainly because I wanted to watch part 5 and I thought she'd appreciate the humor. I was right. She enjoyed it alot. The beers and blunt didnt hurt I'm sure....

Technically, yes..... when the twist is revealed at the end, turns out it wasnt Jason. BUT it's still an hour and a half of a guy with a hockey mask, fucking shit up. There are at least 14-15 kills in this one.

Part 5 starts off with Tommy Jarvis witnessing two teenagers get killed by Jason after digging up his grave. Fast forward several years and Tommy is being transported to a half way house of sorts for teens with various problems. Some great kills including one resident of said house murdering another one with an axe. And a really cool decapatation where a guy is riding around crazy on his dirt bike after getting punched in the mouth by Jarvis. Good times.

Now playing on Netflix: Has anyone else seen Doghouse? It was a very enjoyable horror comedy. The Howling: Reborn is Twilight with werewolves, yet still managed to be better than The Howling 7 which to this day is the worst horror sequel I have ever seen.

Doghouse was much more entertaining than I was expecting it to be.

I'm thinking of doing a little string of reviews on band horror.  I've recently watched "Suck" (Toronto band) and "Don't Go In the Woods" (Brooklyn band - and directed by Vincent D'Onofrio, which is just a source of so much disappointment).  I'm sure there are a bunch more out there worth tracking down.  Wild Zero (for which I think I e-mailed in a review like 5 years ago), and it will give me an excuse to see Repo the Genetic opera.

I own Dolls, but have not watched it.  I'll check it out.

Judgement day was kickass.  Some of the acting was pretty terrible, but I love the idea.  Plus, it gets stronger as it goes.

You're so old and decrepit, and you've watched the most obscure terrible horror movies. How have you not seen "Dolls" sometime over the last 26 years?

Well, there is a decent chance I've seen it and don't quite remember it.  I am a huge Stuart Gordon fan, so I'll watch it this weekend to make it official.

I do enjoy obscure terrible horror movies...I can't explain it.
