I rented Stop-Loss. It was pretty good. I'm also rewatching the first season of Heroes with my mom, I think the upcoming season looks awesome. I watched Andre the Butcher also.  Good, but ridiculous.

I'd like to re-watch the first season of Heroes as well.  Maybe I'll do that in the next couple of weeks before season 3.

rented, watched:
Son of Rambow - loved it, more quirky than hilarious
Bridge to Taribithia - decent, not what I expected
Spiderwick Chronicles - decent, like a horror movie for kids

haven't watched:
Smart People
Death Race 2000

bought Red Sonja.  Somebody told me Conan played a huge part in it, which is why I bought it, but it seems it's just Arnold in a look-alike character.

Somebody help me out here.  If I don't open it I can get my money back.  Is it worth $4.95?

The character was supposed to be Conan, but due to a lawsuit over the rights to use the Conan character in a film which would exist outside of the movie franchise already established, they were forced to change the name. This despite the fact that Red Sonja was historically a fellow warrior/love interest of Conan at one point in the comics, which was why anyone would see a movie with this title to begin with.

Is it worth $4.95? Depends on both your tolerance of Bridgette Nielsen, (who-to be fair- is pretty hot in the flick. I don't think she's the greatest actress, but the role doesn't exactly call for depth and she has the physicality for it) and cheesy, B-movie sword and sorcery type flicks. It wasn't really my bag, but the film has it's adherents.

You shoulda watched Beowulf on the big screen with the 3-D glasses.  Very kickass.  I watched it twice...and they made me pay for the glasses twice even though I brought my original pair with me.  Fuckers.

Purchased:
A Nightmare On Elm Street (Special Edition)

If you watch something on On Demand, but it's free, does that count as a rental? Anyway, from On Demand I watched:
Old Boy
half of TCM 4: The Next Generation - haven't watched this one since college. Some parts are still so bad they're good. The rest is just plain bad.
The Tomb - It was supposed to be based on a story by Lovecraft, but was instead just a Saw knockoff. I only watched about 20 minutes of it, though.
Transformers - not so bad when it's free

This is more along the lines of Horror This Weekend (any old schoolers remember that thread), but my gal and I watched One Dark Night, Night Of The Demons, part of House On Haunted Hill, Jeepers Creepers, and the first episode of Dexter.

On a side note, we were also drinking to mourn the death of my 20's and invented what i believe to be a new beverage called the Drunken Chunky Sour Monkey. Can you tell that neither one of us knows that much about alcoholic beverages?

I should have mentioned that I love the 2 Conans.  I sorta rediscovered the first one recently, and I grew up on a copy of part 2 my parents recorded off TV.
It's not much more than a rental, and I can always sell it back to them for a couple bucks...

Transformers - not so bad when it's free

Why does everyone hate that?  I thought they did about as good as they could have with the concept.  On opening night the fan reaction in the theater was incredibly positive.

I understand not liking the movie or the concept in general.  But I don't understand oldschool fans being excited at the announcement of a live-action version and then feeling let down?  I'm not a huge Transformers fan (I was back in the day), but I enjoyed it as a giant robot scifi romp.

Half of Transformers was ass.  Yeah, I bought it but it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been.  Michael Bay is close to a hack.  I'm probably gonna get shit for that, but whens the last time you saw a movie directed by him that didn't have explosions?  I don't like the fact that Peter Cullen and Frank Welker had to AUDITION for their roles (Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively). and that Frank Welker didn't even get the role.  Instead, it went to Hugo Weaving.  Also having the robots emote didn't really matter.

I agree with all that.  But it doesn't really validate your first sentence.
