I haven't had the opportunity to watch any of my Netflix movies in the last two weeks because I've been studying for the state insurance licensing exam.  This weekend I'm taking a break, and I'm going to watch Visitor Q, Lady Vengeance, The Up Series, The Machine Girl, and Blackout.  Okay, I might not watch all of those but I'm watching some of them.

The first time I watched Gozu I fell asleep halfway through.  It wasn't the movie's fault, I was exhausted.  I ended up having the most fucked up dream of my life, and breast milk made an appearance.  The second time I watched it all the way through, because I had been a bit confused by the part I did see the first time.  I thought it was great.  I also watched Onibaba, which is a Japanese horror movie from the '60s about a demon mask.  I enjoyed it quite a bit, if you don't have a problem watching old horror movies, definitely check this one out.

Saw a little gem of a flick brought to us by the master, Stuart Gordon....  called Edmond. What a terrific movie. Character study of a fella....   who's had enough (ala Michael Douglas in Falling Down) leaves his wife, goes on a mission to get laid in the city. It's there, where this man spirals down a dark and miserable path of destruction. Some racial tension....  only a little violence, but the violence that is here is pretty realistic and powerful to a degree. Highly recommended.

....also caught Bruno at the theaters. Ummmmm....where do I start? Probably the most offensive movie I've ever seen. It's an hour and a half of gayness just thrown into your face (literally at times). I laughed my ass off though for the duration. I think this kicked the shit out of Borat or Ali G InDaHouse. This isn't for everybody......   however, if you're a fan of the penis, black babies being crusified, champaigne bottles being popped out of the ass, and/or UFC fights turned man on man love center stage...this ones for you!

Just rented outsourced, werewolf woman, and burnt offereings.

Burnt offerings was the shit, best climax of an ending I've ever seen...fucking great.

Werewolf women...what can I say huge hairy tits don't do it for me...seriously fuckin' lame...like....just lame, she had a dog face painted on her dog face, and a bunch of hair glued to her....just eeeuuuugh...yet I bet some people get off with that... yeah really bad Although I did recognize the main character from the womens prison massacre...I guess that should have been my first clue.

Outsourced was pretty funny, not like lmao funny but funny nonetheless.

I'm a huge fan of Stuart Gordon, but not so much of Edmond.  It stressed me out.

hahahaha I hear you on that. It got awfully preachy towards the end. I thought the ending was a riot though....

...Payne, I'm curious....   have you seen King of the Ants? I think it's a very comporable film to Edmond. King of the Ants reaches level of brutality and just sheer horror in general that Edmond never comes closes to reaching but still....     King of the Ants is by far my favorite Gordon film and one of my all time favorites, actually.

I haven't seen it, but I'll check it out.  Is it worth buying?

Also, does anybody recommend me buying Midnight Meat Train? I want to see it really bad, but I'm a little concerned about the $20 price tag on it at Wal-Mart.  I'm more of the $10 to $15 range for movies I have never seen before.  My movie rental days are more or less over, so it's either buying the movie or getting it on PPV.

Absolutely, dude. Especially if you really like Gordons work. It's a sweet revenge tale. Has a really indepedant almost documentary kind of feel to it which makes the scenes of violence really realistic. Not a lot of blood...  but the one method used to torment the main character is the coolest fucking idea for torture ever. And the hallucinations the guy experiences is....well, you'll see. Definitely worth a buy, man....  I'd be really interested to hear what your thoughts are on it....

As far as Midnight Meat Train. I don't think it's worth a 20 spot. 10-12 bucks used somewhere I'd say is worth it. It's a pretty dark tale. Really good gore effects....some brilliant camera work at times....  but overall not a flick you can watch more than 2 times maybe (IMO anyways)  and the "rewatchability" aspect of a flick normally dictates how much I'm going to spend on any feature. Just my 2 cents...    I'm sure it has a stronger fan base elsewhere that'll tell you otherwise.

I've got to agree on Midnight Meat Train.  It was quite good and worth seeing, but not something I'd be salivating to own, so $20 seems high to me.  Of course, if you're a raging fan of Vinnie Jones (or Brooke Shields), go for it.

Then again, I'm cheap as hell and a 2nd hand DVD junkie (except for low-budget movies; those I try to buy first-hand to better support people with the balls to make their own movies), so I'd try to pick it up on eBay for less, and/or resell it there if you don't feel the need to keep it in the permanent collection.

I absolutely LOVED Meatnight Meat Train and wouldn't hesitate to pay $20 for it. If that seems high, though, find it secondhand at a CD Warehouse or something because it's definitely worth owning. As I've said before, this one has cult classic written all over it.

Just netflixed whats eating gilbert grape, american history x, and this otehr flick called cashback.

Within the first 5 minutes you find out whats eating gilbert grape...lol

American history x is the shit, although I have to say it seemed a lot cornier watching it this time around, like the dialog and everything just seemed a bit less fucted... either way good movie.

The last ones not even worth mentioning here.

Got my hands on sweet copies of The Hangover, Bruno, and The Proposal. The latter being that Sandra Bullock bullshit. That one's definitely getting donated to the ol' lady.

The Hangover is just a down right pleasant way to spent 90 minutes. Good stuff...

Caught KNOWING on-demand. I was actually pretty surprised how entertained I was. Had zero expectations going in....  the premise is entertaining enough and the first 10 minutes or so actually has some solid horror elements. The young girl who writes down the sequence of numbers prior to getting placed in the time capsole is pretty fucking creepy. There was a few little aspects of the flick that rubbed me the wrong way....like the stone aspect. The entire story they drill it into your head that these stones has some serious significance to the story.......  then, well you'll see. Didn't like it one bit. BUT I was expecting more character development....more drama that is Lifetime-esk... but they never really wasted a whole lot of time on it which I was pleasently surprised. Overall, worth a watch.

Watched Push. I thought it was slow and didn't really care for it, but I was drinking and talking alot while it was on. I think it deserves a second chance. Finally gonna watch Planet Terror this week.
