I'm also big fan of Amazon Women on the Moon, going back to when I first saw it on cable in the late 80's. When I saw that as one of the movies they were getting rid of, my face lit up and I was all over that DVD. The segment you linked to is indeed hysterical..but ,without question, for me the highlight of the film was this sketch with Arsenio Hall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHSoN8t6x3MThe bitch don't live here! Fuck you too! Hahahaha!!!!!!!!!! That line was hysterical!! I also got a big laugh out of the the sort of immediate "non reaction" he has when the tv explodes. That was priceless. Do you have two forms of ID and a major credit card? How did that happen? it must be that "invisible" man.... That's probably the FUNNIEST bit in that movie! Ed Begley Jr is a RIOT!!!!! For those that don't know...here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRFev1Hkb-E

You overpaid. Also, you're a lot more patient than I am. I've tried on several occasions over the years to go back and give that film another chance, thinking that as my tastes in film mature and my cinematic horizons expand, I'll be able to have a greater appreciation for what John Boorman brought to the table with The Heretic. Didn't work. Even though I'm a completist as a rule, Exorcist II is one of the few sequels I have refused to purchase because I still think that movie suuuucks.

I bought the Exorcist box set a couple years back, so I have this one by default. Watched it a couple years ago. Not great. A couple creepy points towards the end. Trippy movie. I think it was made about the time during the 70's when everybody in the country was high. It shows.
My position on this movie has changed somewhat over the years. It's not the worst horror movie ever (as I used to think), but it does possess the biggest quality gap between sequels ever going from 1 to 2. Interestingly enough, it might hold second place as well, going from part 2 to part 3.

Wasn't it laughed off the screen when they premiered it, and laughed off the screen again after it was re-cut?

I've been hitting Cash America Pawn for DVD's lately. I discovered not long ago that they have shelves of top quality DVD's still in their original cases, . If you purchase more than one, generally the price goes down. Such was the case Friday when, for a total of $5.98, I picked up Clerks, Hellbound:Hellraiser II (unrated) and a guilty pleasure/personal favorite of mine, Deadly Friend. All widescreen, all like new.
Yeah. I'm happy.

Bought the DVD of Saw The Final Chapter in the past week. I've already posted my thoughts on the film in the full length review thread, so all I'll say is that this is one of the rare circumstances where the grue quotient in the theatrical cut is copious enough to have me not mind the absence of an unrated version on standard DVD (I haven't upgraded to Blu Ray yet and don't have any plans to in the immediate future). Seriously, as was the case with Piranha 3-D, Saw TFC is one of those flicks that hurls more than enough blood at the audience as is.

Just ordered a double feature DVD of Hammer's The Curse of Frankenstein and Taste the Blood of Dracula.. Now, the second one is a late entry sequel in the Hammer Films Dracula series (with Christopher Lee) which I've never seen... but it's just gravy anyway. The real score was Curse. I went through the Amazon.com used sellers marketplace ,where I've found over the past few years that -including shipping costs- you can score some top notch DVD's in perfect condition for under five bucks (such was the case here). So for a total of $4.47 (($1.19 plus shipping), I get my all-time favorite cinematic take on the Frankenstein legend (Cushing rocks it as Baron Frankenstein and Lee is creepy and distinctly menacing as the monster) ,plus a bonus vampire flick that a the very least has Christopher Lee as Dracula, as well as -in all likelihood given Hammer's style- lots of women with ample bosoms. Can't argue with that. Both are widescreen transfers, which is another treat since, up until now, I've only had a full screen VHS copy of Curse (and that was taped off of AMC during Monster Fest some four years ago). I've found that I'm a better bargain hunter these days. Money is fairly tight, but I also don't have a lot of expenses either. So from time to time I have some "playing around" cash handy. However, I'd rather seek out really good deals like this one than pay full price, unless it's the rare movie I want the day it hits shelves. And hey, while I'm on the subject: It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever purchase anything from Blockbuster again (from the stores that still exist, I mean). Has anyone seen the prices they're charging lately? A minimum of eight bucks (after taxes) for a previously viewed copy of a flick I can purchase brand new from the Wal Mart $5 bin or find at a pawn shop in similar condition for $2.50, in the case. Screw that. Especially since the only occasions in recent memory I've had to return a used disc due to excessive damage which prohibited proper playback were ones I've bought at a Blockbuster. No wonder they're fading out.

Caught Hatchet duece. Wasn't too impressed. Thought it was awfully boring, especially the second act. I also didnt care too much for the motive for Danielle Harris and Rev Zombie had to go back into the swamp and hunt Victor Crowley. Thought it was fucking stupid actually..... and Rev Zombies assumption (I'll leave spoilers aside) but c'mon..... all I'll say is, they were kids....with MASKS on. How in the fuck is Crowley going to..... nevermind. Anyways.... good gore, good kills..... I didnt enjoy it as much as the original I don't think. And Adam Green is starting to get a little annoying with the constant references to our home state we share, Massachusetts. That corny smiley face that is present on the original main characters t-shirt in the original (which they show AGAIN during the opening credits) and one of the main side characters is rocking the same symbol on his hat in the sequel. It's the symbol to a store called Newbury Comics. Great store. DVDs....CDs....clothes, posters, alot of underground shit you can't find anywhere else......but c'mon man, we get it.....you're from Mass, enough...... he even put his home town on the news broadcast shown on the television at one point during the movie.
