Earps post in another thread inspired this. If you would.....  place in order all the F13 flicks as you see, best to worst.

Best for me, it's a toss up between 2 and 7. But for arguments sake....

2, 7, FVJ, 5, JGTH, 8, remake, 6, 3, JX (for the kills), 1, 4.

Berlap sack in part 2 I really dig. And the wheel chair kill is one of my all time favorites (and one of the creepiest shots in the entire series IMO)
Freddy Vs Jason is just a delight to the eyes.
Even though Jason Goes to Hell barely has Vorhees in the thing, when he is on screen he is FUCKING.....SHIT....UP. Loved it.
I love part 8 and I dont give a shit what anyone says. Top notch 80s cheese.
I like the remake. I like it ALOT (in my best Lloyd Christmas voice)
6, 3, 1, and 4 are still all enjoyable and I could probably toss them in various orders. But part 1 is probably the flick I've watched the least over the years (still a solid half dozen times...but compared to part 2 or 7 which maybe about 30-40 watches respectfully)
And whoever says Jason X isnt a damn blast just purely for the kills is insane. Yeah, it's sci fi original quality overall....but I could give a good god damn. Plus it was the first time I got to see Mr Voorees on the big screen.

Ok, well Ill just cut and paste my rankings then:

7, 6, 2, 3, 4, 1, FvsJ, 8, remake, 9, 5, 10

#Yes you read right, 8 was better than this! Jason the super boxer for the win! On second thought Jason the cry baby for the loss, ok fine, the re-make was better than 8.

I agree with most of your list Gore, however part 5? Really you rank that so high based on what? Repeated viewings while under the influence of copious amounts of drugs?

On a side note, as much as I bashed the re-make it did have one of the best kills in the series going for it. Tossing the preppy on the back of that tow truck was just epic. Definitely in my top 10 kills for the series.

Yeah man, I like 5 alot. Got a bunch of silly 80s one liners. Also, it has one of the only non Jason murders in of the entire franchise. Well.......*spoiler*....... they're all non Jason murders in the end but I think you know what I was referring to. Fat retarded slob who you can't help but kind of feel for.....  just gets axed up.

From best to worst:

Jason Lives
Friday the 13th (2009)
The Final Chapter
The New Blood
Jason X
Part 2
Part 3
Jason Goes to Hell
Friday the 13th (1980)
Jason Takes Manhattan
A New Beginning

I don't consider FvJ an F13 movie but an Elm street sequel since the movie is primarily centered around Freddy . Except for Jason Lives, my opinions of these films have shifted over the years..part 2 used to rank much higher but watching it again recently I found it to be almost laughaby stupid and I like part 7 but the censoring it received renders it fairly dull in spots.

Wow.....you got the remake that high on your list huh? Surprising....

How can you not consider FvJ a F13 movie? It's a movie.....that has Jason as a character. Thats enough in my books. Plus, the movie was a masterpiece. The final fight between Freddy and Jason on the dock is one of my favorite cinamatic sequences of all time, period.

Jason X above Jason goes to Hell AND part 2? Kinda disapointed in you man  Cheesy

I've been asked this before, so here goes: In FvJ, everything is centered around Freddy's plans. It's an Elm Street movie with Jason as a character. Freddy resurrects Jason to do his bidding, the film is primarily set in Freddy's stalking ground (until the finale ) and there is a family he's been terrorizing who lives at the house on Elm street at the core of the story. Most of the film has Jason as a "guest star"- a killer reactivated by Freddy to spread fear and give Krueger a doorway through which to come back. Also, FvJ actually advances on the continuity of the previous Elm street movies (ie Westin Hills and Hypnocil from part 3 are brought back as major plot points) whereas it really doesn't progress Jason's story at all, just utilizes some of his trademarks. He's really just the muscle in the movie who happens to turn on the  puppetmaster at the end.   Because of those characteristics, I'd say it was an Elm Street sequel which included Jason Voorhees so fans could finally see them face off.

I've always found  Jason and his movies absurd (until the remake).  I haven't found that series scary since I was ten years old. Entertaining? Definitely..but in a goofy way.  So Jason X was fun for me. Jason Goes to Hell is okay but I've sort of cooled on it in recent years and I used to think part 2 was the best in the series (save for Jason Lives), but I rewatched it recently and man, it was just so cheesy. I still think Jason Lives is the definitive Jason film because it's directly canon, had a great sense of humor about itself and let Jason loose as a total bad ass.

Can't really argue with you on any of your points there. You say part 2 is cheesy.......but they all are in one way or another. It's one of the great aspects of the films. They don't take themselves too seriously but at the same time they never really let it get out of hand like some of Nightmare on Elm Street sequels. Nothing slapstick....just corny ass 80s cheese.

Jason goes to Hell is the shit.

For anyone interested, paste magazine has their own ranking. They provide a synopsis of each and rationale for the ranking. http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2009/02/youre-all-doomed-the-friday-the-13th-series-ranked.html

Interesting list. But when they have #7 as the 7th best F13 film, credibility is out the window. Don't know one conscience horror fan that wouldnt put Friday the 13th part 7 in atleast the top 3 F13 films.....  if not top 5 slasher flicks of all time.

yeah, I can't say that I agree with their rankings, either. I just provided the link as fodder for discussion. To be honest, it's been so long since I've seen most of the films I wouldn't be able to accurately rank them. I loved the 1st apart from the ending, and I remember 2 and 3 were great. Other than those, the others run together in my mind except for Jason X (I actually liked it), and Jason vs. Freddie (fun even though it was not very well done).

I can't properly rank these because I've only seen about half the movies in their rated R form. The other half I've always seen edited for TV. I'm quite sure something gets lost in the mix.

Both you bitches outa be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!  Grin   Call yourself a horror fan and you can't even segregate Friday the 13th part 4 from 6. Tisk tisk.

Obviously I'm only kidding...... the majority of people (including fellow horror fiends) have a tough time distinguishing one from another. Not I though....   Jason is my favorite cinamatic icon of all time...

Regarding part 8.....    I've never understood how much shit it's given. Yeah, it's supposed to be Jason in NY and they don't reach the city until there's about 15 minutes left in the flick. But the boat sequences is where all the fun is. Hot 80s bitches doing blow, corny ass dialog....  and Jason fucking shit up pirate style. Count me in!!!!!  What's the problem with it?

Oh, I can distinguish them from one another. I've just only seen the "edited for TV" versions of parts 1 - 5. And I agree with you on part 8. I've got a soft spot in my heart for it considering it was the first F13th movie I saw in its entirety. It's got a buttload of flaws, but i can overlook most of them. Jason looked pretty awesome. Good kills. It's still way better than part 5.

I also like Jason X more than most. Considering I only paid 50 cents to see it in the theater, I can't complain too much anyway. It was worth it for its version of the sleeping bag kill alone.

As a stand-alone movie, Jason Goes to Hell is pretty bad@$$ and very well-made. But as part of the franchise, it just took a load on the previous entries. And where the heck did Creyton Duke get The Jason Voorhies Handbook from? When Pamela Voorhies was giving birth, did she pop out a baby boy, a dagger, and an instruction booklet on how to kill as well?
