 Huh Huh Huh

Another format again?  I can't really complain about the changes, since they're usually for the better, but we've got to jump start the forums all over again.

D'oh!

I like this format actually. And now I can feel like I haven't fallen behind on discussion. Having no internet is the shits.

Sorry to say, yep. I know it's annoying, but everything's actually going really great for the site. We're now hosted on a brand new server, it has a faster connection, a lot more options, and best of all...

Security provided by professionals!

(also saves me lots of money!)

I had the option of bringing the last forum over, but I've had lots of not-so-glowing comments on Yabb, so I figured better to experiment and find the right one now instead of later when we've really got a lot to lose.

I'm really going for fast and simple, so I'm hoping this is it. I'm going to give it a little time to be played with, then I'll get to work customizing the look to match the rest.

Also for those of you that don't realize it, we are now running on the new site. I'll be adding new features for years to come, ideas are always welcome (PM or email them to me, I spend all my site time working on reformatting and getting all 1,500 of our reviews back online, so I don't much read forums).

The only gripe I have pertains to the main page, not the forum. I'm a devoted Firefox user and it saddens me that I have to choose between my favorite browser and my favorite website. Like choosing between my girlfriend and my guitar. I'm obviously going to choose my guitar.

If you're using Windoze, download Opera.  Opera 9.5 picks up the site with no problem, plus it's the nicest looking browser I've seen.  Honestly, I think I like it more than Firefox but because I'm so used to Firefox I usually use it.

I have it downloaded but the application won't open. I'm running on Vista, I'm not sure whether or not that makes a difference. I remember using XP and downloading Opera without a hitch.

Vista?  You have my deepest sympathies.

Opera has some conveniences, and I've taken your word that it is more secure than Firefox.  But never have I had to 'stop' / 'refresh' more often than with Opera, as sometimes it will sit there pretending like it's loading.  And some scripts don't work on some sites... little things that are supposed to pull down or pop up don't work in Opera.  Maybe I have some security or pop-up filter set too high.
Moving back and forward between pages is not very fluid either.  On some pages, pushing the back button just takes me to a certain point when not everything on the page had yet been loaded.  I have to push the back button twice to back out of any page on the deadpit radio forums, for instance.
But I've grown used to it and use it regularly now.

I have Windows XP and everything works perfectly everytime. (Except in the case of user error...I can't find any remedy for that that allows me to live.  Shocked )

Man, another reboot. I'm starting to feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day!

You can use mouse gesutires to navigate back/forward between pages.  Go under 'tools' and select 'Preferences' then select the 'Advanced' tab.  Select the bottom option 'shortcuts' and click on the box labelled 'Enable Mouse Gestures.'

The mouse gestures are usually pretty fluid and can make for a fun experience.

Finally back on the site. Fuck, man, if it hadn't been for GC's Firefox incompatibility info I wouldn't be here. Opera it is. (Thanks GC).

np, actually I've been pimping Opera since the last format.  I use Opera for pretty much this site only, but I do like Speed Dial.  I have that as my homie page.  I could use Konquerer, but it's not as good a browser as FF or Opera.
