No real point with this entry. Just taking a look at some of the events going on around me. This actually began life as a blog post on Myspace and I thought I'd share it here for anyone's amusement. I was too lazy to rewite the whole damn thing, so I just copied and pasted it. We probably could use a thread where people just randomly sound off about all manner of bullshit.
Of course the big story is the election. For better or for worse, Obama is the man of the hour and the wounded Republicans are already talking about the possibility of Palin as the front runner for 2012, which may sound like a good idea right now but I think puts them in the same category with hula hoops, pet rocks and Bjork as something that was mildly entertaining for a time but eventually grew tiresome. The big loss here isn't the absence of the McCain/Palin ticket but the probable departure of Tina Fey from parodying the Alaskan governor on SNL which, you know, sucks. Besides, the Mayan calendar says that the world will end in 2012, which would make sense if we see Palin as GOP candidate that year.
Speaking of politics, the internet is in full swing with discourse unfolding as to whether or not Obama is the antichrist. Is he? Dunno. Maybe. Maybe not. If he is and bibilical prophecy is unfolding before our very eyes, there really isn't much we can do about it since the nature of biblical prophecy is to inform us of big things about to go down that we will witness but don't have any say in preventing, sort of like the second Bush/Cheney term. If Obama does turn out to be the unholy spawn of darkness sent here to corrupt the souls of all humankind, my only request before we start down the road to a full fledged apocalyptic finale is - should he achieve global domination and begin to isolate and remove Christian teachings from every aspect of world culture and I have to secretly meet in basements because of my faith - when he sets his sights on censoring my faith from television, start with TBN because the beehive hairdos that some of those women sport during that network's programming really creep me out . Hair should never be allowed to be that big unless you're animated and have a husband named "Homer".
The holiday season is practically at our doorstep! In an a effort to maximize economic frugality during this recession, I'm going to advise the family to forget feeding me at Thanksgiving dinner this year and instead plan to stalk and kill whatever that hell that thing was I saw rummaging around in my neighbors trash can last night. Deep fried mammal is on the menu this year!! In keeping with this budget saving mindset, I fully plan to give a little something to each member of my family and my closest friends which will fall within my monetary limits. I'm not worried, as I'm certain everyone I know will enjoy the dazzling variety of Archie and Jughead digest magazines and the accompanying six pack of Natural Light beer they will find under the tree this year! Joy to the world!! Joy, I say!!

In the spirit of ranting, I'll play off of your subjects and then segue into my own.
Natty Light fueled my way through college. It was 10 bucks a suitcase, not sure what it is now, probably 10 bucks a suitcase. It's hard to drink now for some reason. My older brother still drinks those 22 ounce Natty Ice bottles. Now that is some rough beer, but pound for pound very affordable. We call those bottles Ice Picks for a couple different reasons...I used to drink a ton of Mickey's as well in college. I graduated (undergrad) in '98 so it's been a little while. I tried to drink a Mickey's a couple years ago and about gagged. Apparently I liked the taste of skunk piss back in the day.
Speaking of the antichrist, our buddy Nostradamus predicted the antichrist had the name of "Mabus". Many people with too much time on their hands switched the letters around (which was a common trick of his) and came up with Sabam, which was close to Saddam. The Illuminati figured this out as well and Saddam Hussein was executed, just in case. However, when juxtaposing Obama's name and replacing a letter or two, you end up with Mabos, or pretty close. Ergo, Obama is the antichrist. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Actually, I'm just kidding. I think Obama will be a good president.

For the record, anyone who actually believes President Obama (man, that sounds nice) is the anti-christ is a braindead waste of space.

There actually are other reasons people have jumped on the bandwagon other than the Nostradamus factor. The fact that he has literally taken the world by storm at this point - with even the Iranian leader having chimed in about his hopes for an Obama victory - has some people wondering if the big B.O. is going to be that man who manages to hold the entire world in sway, which is supposed to be the point of the Antichrist- that he'll be someone who eventually is able to control and lead most of the civilized world.. One of the prophesized characteristics of the Antichrist's reign is that he will destroy many through peace..so you can kinda see what's fueling the fire, since Obama's election to office in and of itself has already opened doors for better relations with nations that have a fair amount of animosity towards the USA.. Even Hamas has indicated they'd meet with him. I have no opinion on the matter whatsoever and only mentioned the entire phenomenon in the context of humor. Personally, I'm just glad President Cheney and his puppet W are going bye-bye. At this point,a fucking rock could do a better job in the Oval Office.

Daniel 7 gives us a VERY detailed description of him. He wil come from a Unified Europe and be a decendant of the Roman Empire. Obama is neither of these, also noted Bible Prophecy expert Hal Lindsay said that Obama is not the Anti-Christ, but the way he was received is the same way Anti-Christ will be received.

So basically, if a world leader is heralded by many nations because of the prospect that the world's mightiest country will finally be run by an intelligent, thoughtful man who has promised to work to bring peace, we're looking at the fucking anti-christ. Yeah, that makes a helluva alot of sense. Apparently scientists have been mistaken in their belief that the neanderthals died out. (Cinemascribe, I realize your post was in jest, so this is not directed at you, but those in our nation who actually use this kind of "logic" on a daily basis.) I can tolerate almost any difference with another human, but ass-backward thinking by a non-mentally impaired person I just can't stomach. I guess that makes me a stupidist.

It doesn't surprise me that many have a feeling Obama is the anti-christ. If you look at the bulk of criteria he does fit alot of the big ones. Anti-christ is loved by all civilized nations, claims to be a christian, globalist, etc, etc. Obviously Obama fits those criteria so it should shock nobody that people have those concerns about Obama, I personally don't feel he is the anti-christ but at the same time I can understand where the buzz is coming from. There has never been a president in my lifetime to so closely fit the anti-christ definition so again, I'm not surprised, I just don't agree with it.
That being said, I just hope the guy turns out to be a great president and is actually the centrist uniter he campaigned to be. If he turns out to be the liberal version of Bush, we are all screwed.
On a side note I wish people would shut the fu## up about Sarah Palin. As a father of two autistic boys I happen to be a huge supporter of her agenda to spend billions to support developmentally disabled kids. In my lifetime I never heard any politician offer to millions of struggling famlies across the US what she was offering so yeah, I'm a Palin guy weather it's pop culture to hate her or not.

Hey, this anti-christ guy is starting to win me over. Likable, peaceful. Does he listen to metal I wonder? Undoubtedly. I'm the devil, I love metal!

I agree, Payne. If this is the anti-christ and he's all about peace and thoughtful solutions to our nation's problems, then rock on anti-christ. I can say this because though I believe in God, I don't believe in satan nor the anti-christ.

I never understood that. It's like believing in light but not darkness. If there were no such thing as darkness then what is light?

Simple. God set the whole thing in motion, then (either by choice or by nature) ceased any involvement and allows things to happen as they may. It's the watchmaker anology. Good and bad are constructs created by man, not God (or as I prefer, the Creator), because they serve to maintain a civilized society. And, I believe, it is the nature of man to want to help others and do "good", with obvious exceptions.
